About Our History

In the beginning...

At The Welcome House Farm, the journey begins with a personal tale of seeking solace and renewal. In 2014, Bess and Christian, yearning for respite from the bustling pace of New York City, stumbled upon the property in the tranquil countryside of Perkasie, Pennsylvania. Enveloped by the energy of the land, they instantly recognized it as a place of profound significance—a haven where healing, manifestation and connection could flourish.

From that moment, Welcome House Farm became more than just a retreat; it became a labor of love, and food for the soul. Steeped in history dating back to 1791, the Main House and Carriage House stand as silent witnesses to centuries of human endeavor. With no running water or electricity until 1971, this land remained untouched by the trappings of modernity, preserving its pristine beauty and timeless allure.

Water, drawn from a deep underground aquifer that has flowed for millennia, sustains our farm, infusing every corner with the essence of purity and vitality. Just south of the Carriage House, a well taps into this ancient source, nourishing the life that thrives within our sanctuary.

What's to come....

Since their arrival, Bess and Christian have welcomed hundreds of guests into the the Carriage House, a converted bank barn from the 1830s. Set against 16 acres of preserved farmland, this sanctuary offers a refuge from the noise of the world, surrounded by the gentle presence of horses, chickens, pigs, sheep, goats, and cows.

Amidst the verdant landscape, a tapestry of herbs, trees, and flowers invites guests to explore, to reconnect with nature's rhythms. Seasonal orchards, herb gardens, and vegetable patches yield a bounty of fresh produce, while farm-fresh eggs and proprietary organic honey add a touch of sweetness to every meal.

The Rich History of Welcome House Farm

The Main House Farm, a historic retreat nestled in the serene countryside of Perkasie, Pennsylvania. The Main House, built in 1791, stands as a testament to the enduring craftsmanship of centuries past, while the Carriage House, constructed circa 1835, adds its own distinctive character to our landscape. It's a place where time seems to slow down, where the echoes of the past resonate in every corner.

Named after its original inhabitants, the Lenape people, Perkasie, Pennsylvania, holds a rich cultural heritage. Its name, derived from "Poekskossing," meaning "where the hickory nuts were cracked," reflects a natural connection to the land and its resources.
